A Special Tribute to the Great American Songbook, by Jerry Laird Ted specializes in one-man shows, tailored to fit his audiences. He has at least 20. Probably more. But for us, he chose to take us on a trip down Memory Lane, mentioning many of the composers and lyricists who made The Great American Songbook great. Milton Drake. Donaldson. Cahn. Lawrence. Henderson. Arthur Tracy. Woods. Berlin. Cohan. Rodgers. Porter. Gershwin. And more. Many more. And the thrill for a lot of us was that they had been members of the New York Sheet Music Society! We were all able to relive great moments of our own history as Ted reminded us of just how many fantastic memories are associated with music. I especially liked the way he connected with Ervin Drake in presenting his program. As Ira wrote, "Swonderful!!" Thanks again, Ted. |
