The Annual New Songwriter Series
Produced & Directed by Sandi Durell Once again, Sandi Durell's New Songwriter Series played to a packed house. The afternoon was filled with the talents of singers and songwriters - starting off with John Primerano performing two of his songs. Vickie Phillips sang a number written just for her by Bob Ost and Gerry Dieffenbach (who accompanied her on the piano). Tracy Stark aptly handled the music for Pam Tate's songs - highlighted by Pam's singing of "Bar Mitzvah Shiksa Mama", written by Pam Tate & Erv Raible. Kathy King Wouk's songs were performed by Lisa Asher with Jeff Waxman on piano. Nicholas Levin's music and lyrics were performed by David Gurland and Donna Coney Island. And the entertainment continued - the magnificent operatic voice of Felicia El-Amin singing J. Todd Fernandez' "Visions" and Juson Williams handling another Fernandez song. The gracious Audrey Lavine performed Josh Vogel's numbers and Michael Ogborn's songs from the new musical "Cafe Puttanesca" were sharply done by Carolyn Montgomery. Karen Benedetto, just back from the International Song of Peace Contest in Ireland, brought Julie Reyburn, Nancy McGraw and Scott Coulter to sing three of her works. Multi-talented songwriters and award winning performers - what an extraordinary event! |
