"With, or Without a Song."

The Life and Music of Edward Eliscu

with Co-Hosts: David Eliscu, John Meyer, and Gary Stevens

When you're down and out, lift up your head and shout, "More Music by Eddie Eliscu!!!" What a Great Day! "Orchids in the Moonlight." "Flying Down to Rio." Just thinking of those titles brings a smile. (And great memories of Fred and Ginger dancing to "The Carioca," and all those chorus girls standing on the wings of those bi-planes!) Charles Cermele, Leila Martin, Sondra Gorney, Karen Gorney, and John Meyer did their usual wonderful job of performing the great songs of this great man. After each song, his son David Eliscu (and editor of his father's biography) fascinated us with interesting anecdotes about the songs, with by reading other interesting segments from the book about his father's life and work. The big surprise of the afternoon was when Gary Stevens took the microphone and sang, "You Forgot Your Gloves." Wow! Top Drawer! (Why I was surprised I'm not sure: after all, Gary has been working in and around the entertainment business for years, so naturally he can perform! But, enough! If you weren't there, you missed a great moment.) Another great moment was when the entire crew stood there and belted out "Great Day" for a perfect finale A very apt, two-word description of the afternoon. More than you know. More than you'll ever know.
